"C Change"

A Change in the Wind

For almost 14 years C Ghost has been our girl, our home, and our protector when at the dock or at sea. She’s taught us a lot, and sensitized us to pay close attention to the weather, current, and wind.

Accordingly, we want to let you all know that we are experiencing a change in the wind as regards our next ventures.  Tommy and I feel the time is right to become land-based again. We want to embark on some enterprises on terra firma. These include time with parents, children, grandchildren and pets as well! Paula misses having a garden. Additionally, we’ve developed a love of hiking and an interest in RV camping which feels to us a bit like highway-based boating.

We also feel strongly that C Ghost herself deserves to sailed to an extent that just doesn’t align with our priorities right now. Therefore, we’ve been lucky enough to find a couple, who by all indications, will value C Ghost as we have.

Our immediate plans are to spend the summer at Lake Tahoe as planned, and then dive into the adventure of securing a home. We don’t intend to give up sailing; that itch will likely be scratched with a much smaller day boat. We’ll keep you posted as to our progress and will continue the land trip, Tahoe, and photography portions of our blog.

In accordance with our new direction, the C Ghost blog has been remodeled. It will still include all of our past (and future) boating experiences. In addition, it will document our new land-based undertakings. You can still find us at cghost.org. We love you all!

  1. Tom. Thank you for sharing your experience with us it’s been very inspiring to me to say the least. While i am still working I have started planning my trip on a Trawler up through the 1000 island and into Lake Ontario. Seeing the experiences you and Paula have enjoyed just keeps me moving forward. Again thank you both for sharing this and good luck with your next adventure

    1. Hi Mike – Thanks so much for your thoughts. A trip by trawler up into Lake Ontario sounds awesome. Good planning helps reduce the anxiety when you do eventually start out. We loved every minute of our time aboard and I’m sure you will too. Best of luck and let us know if you will be keeping a blog site of your adventures because we’d love to read it!

  2. Sitting at home wondering the current status of CGhost on Marinetracker. I see it in Kent island. I Look up Cghost .org and see the big moves.
Congrats and hope you have adapted to solid ground and your endeavors of family as well as new and missed hobbies.

    Be well

    Matt

    1. Thanks Matt! Great to hear from you. All is well here. Enjoying two grandchildren now. We bought some land in Florida, but no house on it yet. Construction to begin in the fall. Hope all is well with you and your family as well. Are you retired yet? Let me know (tecorby@hotmail.com).

  3. To my brother and sister.
For our family (and beyond), C Chost is/was so much more to us than just your sailing vessel and your home. She was the beacon for the rest of us to live out our dreams, take the risks, change it up, and follow our passions. For John and I, she was the inspiration to move to Florida, to experience a completely different life and to find and fall in love with own water home, Playin’ the Keys. C Ghost was one of the very few places where John and I felt honored and humbled to share in her experience as your guests.
Aboard the C Ghost is where John found a few of his joys…Paula’s cooking, a favorite and now staple spice, amazing coffee, and endless dialog with the master of the political landscape, my brother Tom.
C Ghost provided softly rocking comfort when we learned of our sister’s breast cancer diagnosis while we were aboard her, and she served as the official “office” for the first of many communications that brought Ryan back to us after 37 years.
But more than anything, for me, her name, C Ghost, carried the heart and soul of our brother Brian. His adventurous spirit, his sunny-side up smile, and his heart full of love was the soul of this boat as well. Along with a few surprises that we are certain taxed the captain and first mate’s patience, the C Ghost provided the conduit for Brian to play his practical jokes from time to time while always keeping Tommy and Paula safe. I’m certain he was always there, at the top of the mast, ensuring fair winds and following seas.

Congratulations to Tom, Paula, to the C Ghost and the new owners. The adventure continues for all and the memories are ours to keep forever.

    Love, sister K

    1. Wonderful sentiments K. Thank you so much for writing this. We couldn’t agree more with everything you said. It’s going to take while for us to get used to not being aboard her everyday. So glad we got to share all those memories with you and John.

Thanks again and love you too, Tom and Paula
