Got a good early start @ 7:30am. The winds, 15-20mph upon leaving Ferry Point, led to some rolling swells, which gave a good test to our stowing. A few items got dislodged, but nothing broken, and good lessons were learned as to what was and wasn’t truly secured.
Saw a kite surfer making like a bandit in front of the Bay Bridge with only the slender keel of his board in the water.
The crew reported healthy for duty except for Octavius, our autopilot, who came down with a mysterious ailment which Dr. Tom will need to diagnose at anchor.
Just before 3pm we anchored in the Little Choptank River, along with a white sloop, and a gorgeous black-hulled ketch. The trip was trouble free and not too taxing despite it being 45 nautical miles. (Just over 50 statute “regular” miles) It’s sunny, the air is cool, and the breeze has modified to about 5mph. The crew is anticipating a dinner of Chicken Tikka Masala with rice which Paula precooked a few days before departure.
Tomorrow we have a shorter trip to Solomon’s Island.

I watched you guys via your gps track! That’s a neat way to keep up with you guys! Saw you make the turn eastward and figured you were headed for the Little Choptank! Enjoy these days! Having cruised the ICW with Mom and Dad (though in the other direction), I can say that it’s a journey you’ll remember forever! Safe sailing! Enjoy making memories!!!
Woof. Woof. Excellent start to your journey. Dean and Sandy have kayaked around there extensively. The eastern side of the bay is very Sandy instead of muddy
Your friend, Willis
