Warning: If you are looking for drama on the high seas today, you may wish to peruse another sailing blog! Today was the last day of untoward weather for at least the next three. We awoke to a torrential downpour and continued high wind. Here’s what it looked like right near the marina entrance:
Since this had been predicted, we took in all the cockpit cushions and other non-waterproof gear last night. So C Ghost got a nice free washdown. The day already had a slow, lazy feel to it, so we just went with it and had a lazy morning. Tommy had appeared mildly disappointed that yesterday’s pot roast went straight into the freezer and that he didn’t get any of the biscuits Paula baked yesterday. Therefore, Paula baked biscuits, put the second chuck roast in the crock pot, and then read, What’s App’ed with friends and did chess problems until lunch. The bread she baked did well for our tuna sandwiches, so she baked another loaf. Tommy cleaned the engine compartment and did internet research on various manly topics.
At 2 pm the sun came out, and at 3 we were pleasantly surprised to see the folks on the Caliber sailboat we had met in Cambridge pull in to a slip on the next dock. They seemed happy to see us too, so we made a plan to meet at the marina restaurant for dessert.
We also heard from our St. Augustine friends who are currently in West Bay New Providence (same island as Palm Cay, but we are on the southeast side, they are on the northwest) on their S2 sailboat with their three young children. They are planning to sail to Palm Cay tomorrow. We are excited to see more friends!
Due to the sloppy weather, we did not get out to take photos, so we’ve included a few that we took in previous days. The feature shows the marina Club and Restaurant on a sunny day, and the flowers are just a few of the many that grow here.
Dinner was the second pot roast, with root vegetables, and the new bread with butter. We enjoyed desert at the restaurant with our sailing friends. Chocolate cake.
