Cross Country Drives

Nashville, Tennessee

After we left Oklahoma we made an overnight stop in Little Rock, Arkansas. Tom was able to score tickets to a show at the Grand Ole Opry on the following evening so we set out for Nashville the next morning. It was a beautiful day when we arrived and we had a little time to walk around the complex and have a nice dinner before the show.

The next day we rose early to drive to Johnson City, Tennessee for a visit with Tom’s niece Olivia and her family. After that we stopped in Abingdon, Virginia and then it was on to Apex, North Carolina for a visit with Mom and Dad. We will be leaving on Sunday morning for our return to St. Augustine.

The entrance to the Grand Ole Opry House is famously marked by these two big guitars.

The show consisted of six separate acts of about 20 minutes each. The entire 2 hour show was also a live radio broadcast. Our seats were great, and the music was first class. The above act was “Dailey and Vincent”, one of our two favorite performances of the evening.

The last act of the night was Ashley McBryde. She was outstanding and we wished we could’ve heard more.

This sign grabbed our attention for dinner in Opryland with it’s low key description of the cuisine.

Inside, the place was a visual powerhouse.

Wild game was the featured fare. No tofu salads on this menu.

Nothing like some good frogs legs for an appetizer.

Tom managed to get a selfie with grand-nephew James. It was a lot of fun playing with these two guys.
