This week at Tahoe began with a Monday surprise. A long-planned secret visit by “Auntie” Nancy & Mike was effected by Kyle picking them up from the airport. The pretext was that he was returning to Folsom for work responsibilities only. After a stop at the airport, he delivered the visiting pair to the cabin, where Glennis was not just surprised, but thunderstruck! Charlie was also delighted to meet Nancy and Mike for the first time. Much cuddling ensued. That night we had spaghetti and meatballs, sausage, vegs with garlic bread for dinner.

On Tuesday everybody hung out and enjoyed Charlie’s presence and each other’s company. We had salmon and cucumber salad with nice sourdough bread for dinner.
Wednesday we went as a group to Heavenly Village Shopping Center on the grounds of the Heavenly skiing resort. We had pizza at Base Camp pizza and shopped for tops, hats, and souvenirs. That night we played craps on the dining room table. Kyle helped instruct those who were new to the game or hadn’t played for a while.

Next day, Kyle prepared the inflatable kayaks and Nancy and Mike paddled to Hidden Beach. Meanwhile the rest of us brought the rest of the beach paraphernalia (chairs, baby shelter, snacks, etc.) to the same location by land- see featured photo. The morning passed quickly in the sun and breezes.

The Cenats joined us Friday afternoon. Kyle was chef that night, making Chicago Style Italian Beef served on a toasted roll with cheese. A huge hit!

We reluctantly said goodbye to Nancy and Mike Saturday morning. Kyle was to drive them back to the Sacramento airport. They gave us a second surprise when they returned 2 hours later. An accident closed the freeway, and they couldn’t get to the airport, so we were lucky to have them for another 24 hours! Luckily, this meant that there was an overlap, if brief, of Nancy and Mike with Margeaux, Nestor, Freya and Vance who got in very late Saturday night. We will fully cover their visit next blog post.

EPIC week with family, food, fun…and craps! Can’t get enough of Charlie, miss her cheeks, her giggle and her fine-hair-mohawk so much!
