Cross Country Drives

Albuquerque, New Mexico

Today was a shorter 500 mile leg. The drive through Texas and part of New Mexico was right out of an old western movie. Flat plains covered in sage brush and cattle. The only thing that launched you back into the 21st century were the massive windmill farms every so often in Texas.

With the shorter drive and crossing another time zone (Mountain Time now), I got in to Albuquerque relatively early. Found a nice hotel right downtown so I could walk to the old town area and do some sightseeing. If you like pueblo style architecture, this is the place for you.

This was the typical building style throughout the “old town” area.
Albuquerque2
There was a nice little park area in the middle of the historic part of town.
Albuquerque4
Lots of side streets with shops selling handmade clothes, jewelry, and art.
Albuquerque3
Some of the locals with their wares laid out on the ground while they sat and made more of them as you watched.

This guy was playing some nice tunes as I walked by.

Interesting local music.
