Everyone made the most of the good weather this past weekend. The mommies made an expedition by land to a private cove down the path from Hidden Beach, and Kyle and Miller joined them via the kayaks. Charlie bravely dipped a toe into the icy Tahoe waters, and the rest of the kids played in sand and water both. There were several beach trips, all lots of fun.
Lots of walks were taken, especially by Jackson, who got to interact with some of the other doggies, and he even got an escort home from his favorite kids.
Kyle and Miller experimented with a new form of cookery: a standalone propane-fired grill with a special concave botton surrounded by an elevated large shelf. It was perfect for cooking an amazing breakfast scramble and also a carne asada made of multiple types of meat, perfectly spiced!
Tom reprised his role as an incredibly sick patient, ministered to by Drs. Tayva, Makai, and Rayelle. They administered painful shots, which made the patient howl, to the absolute delight of the treating physicians.
Jaackson required a different sort of attention, as Paula trimmed him of a lot of the long and somewhat matted hair that he developed after contact with Tahoe pine tree sap.
Tom and Paula walked the Angora Ridge trail, a beautiful hike with 600+ feet of elevation over the first two and a half miles. The peak was at seven thousand feet. As we sat and ate lunch at the top, a large hawk drifted over us, as it looked for prey, likely the chipmunks we saw everywhere. The views of Lake Tahoe were spectacular – the featured picture is our lunch campsite at the top. It was an out-and-back, so the return from the summit was all downhill. We saw many panting cyclists attempting the top, and folks on foot with their dogs.
Wanting to include Jackson on a hike, we chose an easier trail and took him along. The Lam Watah nature trail to Nevada beach was perfect. There were lots of people and dogs for him to interact with, and even some large geese on the beach. He was amazed by those birds and did very well on what wound up being a three mile jaunt.
