Lots of activity this week. The Cenats came this weekend and Dacia and Miller and Kyle and Glenny had a date night on Saturday to go to the casinos and the Oyster Bar (one of everyone’s favorite seafood restaurants) while Tom and Paula watched the kids. Glennis suffered from some guilt and worry, as this was the first time she’d left Charlie for a night out, but she was bolstered by the others. Everyone looked beautiful in their nice clothes. Charlie and Rayelle were put to bed before the parents left, and Makai and Tayva had treats on the sofa while watching “Avatar” with Tom and Paula.
All went according to plan, until 9:30 p.m. when Charlie experienced an unexpected wake-up. Paula held her and she returned to sleep-but not for long! Tom put Tayva and Makai to bed without difficulty, but Charlie was apparently determined to stay up till Mom and Dad came home. And she did! She was pretty content as long as she was held, read to, cuddled, but screamed bloody murder if we put her back in the pack-n-play. What a surprise for Glenny and Kyle when they got home at 1:30 a.m. and she greeted them with a smile.
Next morning Miller and Kyle made another round of killer breakfast burritos, which helped compensate for everyone’s late night. We hung out on the sunny porch until it was time for the Cenats to head home.
Glennis and Kyle stayed till after dinner on Monday, so in the morning, while Kyle was working, the rest of us took a hike to Nevada beach (featured picture). The hike was livened by a sighting of a wild bobcat, slinking through the woods after prey (not us). Jackson totally failed as a guard dog, as he didn’t even notice the bobcat. Nevada beach was big and had a beautiful view, and hopefully we can take the whole group there this weekend.
Once Tom, Paula, and Jackson were on our own, we did some recuperating and then took Jackson on a three mile hike on part of the Lodi trail. It was not strenuous for the humans, but the track was mostly sand, which was harder on Jackson (imagine running barefoot through sand barefoot and with four feet.) Despite frequent water and treat breaks, and short rests, he was tuckered out by the end of the hike and slept most of the remaining day at the cabin.
The weekend has started early, as Glenny, Kyle, and Charlie arrived last night. We had Paula’s chicken and vegetable pasta with garlic bread and finished the evening with Star Trek. The Cenats arrive tonight.
